3-Second Cycle Time was given as target for Grooving and Drilling operation to be performed. 

A leading manufacturer approached Iyalia SPM with a challenging requirement:

  • Perform Groove Turning and Drilling operations on Banjo Bolts.
  • Achieve a cycle time of 3 seconds per part, ensuring precision and consistency.

The task demanded innovative solutions to meet the high-speed production requirements without compromising quality.

Iyalia SPM`s Solution

we have worked out the cycle time as a major factory and strted to brake done the machining time, finially concluded with a Four spindle Grooving machine and 24 Spindle Drilling and inspection machine. 

To meet the customer`s goals, we developed two advanced machines tailored to their needs:

1. Groove Turning Machine

  • Design Features:

    • A 4-spindle turning SPM with fully automatic Gantry loading and unloading systems.
    • Parts are loaded into a feeder system, eliminating the need for manual intervention.
    • Grooving operation time: 12 seconds for 4 parts simultaneously.
    • Complete Servo controls Slide for X and Z axis slide
  • Cycle Time Achievement:

    • By processing 4 parts at a time, we achieved a total cycle time of 3 seconds per part, including loading and unloading.


2. Drilling Machine

  • Design Features:

    • A 24-spindle drilling center for both:
      • Center holes and vertical holes.
      • 6 Multi spindle drilling heads with each head with 4 spindles.
      • Physical Tool breakage sensors to prevent any missing operation because of tool missing.
      • Chamfering of the top vertical cross hole during drilling.
    • Manual loading system with automatic unloading integrated with an inspection unit.
    • Depth of drilled holes checked automatically during the unloading process.
  • Cycle Time Achievement:

    • Each cycle processes 4 parts simultaneously, meeting the 3-second cycle time requirement.
